About

Rupal S. Vora, M.D., MPH, FACP

Hello!  My name is Rupal S. Vora M.D. MPH, FACP.   I am the Founder (and Coach) of MedStudentCoach LLC (MSCLLC), a faculty member at Creighton University School of Medicine (CUSOM), and an ABIM board-certified internal medicine physician who has been actively involved in academic medicine since 2006.

I served as a medical school faculty member and assistant dean at an osteopathic (DO) medical school (ATSU-SOMA) from 2006 to 2022.  In 2022, I received a faculty appointment at CUSOM (MD medical school) as an Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine, where I serve in facilitation, teaching, and interviewing roles.  With over 18 years of experience in undergraduate medical education, I have had the privilege of serving in medical school admissions, advising over a thousand medical students, teaching and course directing in an innovative medical school curriculum, and most importantly, focusing on student wellness during the process.  As of 2022, I have also assisted premeds, medical students, residents and practicing physicians with achieving successful outcomes through MSCLLC.

With regard to my education, I attended UCLA for my

undergraduate studies and the David Geffen School

of Medicine at UCLA for my M.D. degree.  I then completed my training in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. I practiced medicine in Boston at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care prior to moving to Arizona, where I now reside with my husband.

Since moving to Arizona, prior to my roles at MSCLLC and CUSOM, I have served as a founding faculty member at ATSU-SOMA as of 2006 and then subsequently as the Assistant Dean of Student Achievement.  During my tenure as a faculty member and assistant dean, I have served in numerous leadership capacities and have seen the evolution of medical education by working to stay closely apprised of any new processes and trends in medical school admissions and residency matching.  I have successfully assisted hundreds of osteopathic medical students in their journey through medical school into residency (as demonstrated by an upwards of 99% residency placement rate [100% in 2022] during my tenure as an Assistant Dean). I have prior experience in teaching and advising osteopathic medical students (OMS 1 to OMS 4) in order to help enhance their academic and professional development through my roles as a faculty member, course director, club advisor, and the chair of various committees (e.g. At-Risk Student Committee, Awards Committee).  I have served in medical school admissions, curricular development, and student performance optimization. During this time, I was honored to be chosen as the Educator of the Year Award by the Arizona Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP).

With a passion for lifelong learning, I recently completed a Master in Public Health degree. Both my MPH and my prior roles serving as Adjunct Faculty for the Doctor of Audiology program and the Physician Assistant program at ATSU have given me an understanding of both public health and other healthcare fields for students who wish to pursue dual-degree or alternate careers.

With regard to research, my accomplishments include having served as the Principal Investigator (PI) of an approximately 2 million dollar HRSA grant and having published a study in Academic Medicine on medical student connectivity, sense of community, and academic satisfaction.  I am also currently a Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of a grant funded through the Institute of Population Health at Creighton University School of Medicine focusing on Street Medicine.

Of note, I have two children who are college graduates (one of whom is pursuing medicine) so I believe I can also relate personally to the challenges of being a parent of a premedical/pre-health or medical student!

Since starting MSCLLC, I have worked with premedical students (high school, college, gap year), medical students (MD, DO, IMG), and residents in their journey to either gain admission to medical school or match into residency. I have additionally supported applicants in related healthcare fields (PA, dental).  My goal is to ensure that students receive genuine, authentic, and supportive guidance to help them achieve their dreams.  Perhaps most importantly, I prioritize focusing on the well-being of students while helping guide them to success!

With an increasingly competitive medical school admissions and residency match environment, I cannot guarantee match or admissions success but will work with you to optimize your likelihood of being admitted to medical school or matching into residency while making the process less stressful for you.  Overall, my goal is to coach by collaborating with you to optimize your academic and professional success, while focusing on maintaining your joy and passion for medicine (or your healthcare field of choice) during the process!

Please contact me by email at rupalvoramd@gmail.com or text/call me at 602-295-0298 to get started!

We can then plan a 30 minute introductory session to see if working together would be a good fit.

I look forward to meeting you!
